Waiting for the Bus!

What is the worst nightmare for a nerd hardworking copywriter who has done all the necessary research and nailed down his beloved copy?🙃

It is absolustely this tiny typo mistake like a little pebble in his shoe!

This billboard is one of the giants in El Tayaran Street, at Nasr City, Egypt.

Waiting, bored, shivering from cold, and tired as usual from a working day as a content creator and copywriter, I just found this billboard, advertising for an important showroom!!

I've been startled for seconds because of this fatal mistake! I guess you, reader, can point it out very easilyyy! The billboard says: "انضم إلى من أكبر معرض تجاري أفريقي"!

How is it "انضم إلى من"?

It is linguistically and semantically wrong in Arabic! And from a marketing point of view, this is called "a jeopridaize for the brand/company image" 🙆‍♀️ Poor copywriter!

Some may claim that I am exaggerating, but no! Such a mistake is hilarious, and especially if this billboard has been set in an international context or so! However, I want to shed the light on an interesting part of this advertisement. If we just changed the audience and translated the ad into English, this typo mistake will disappear because in English the verb "join" takes no conjunctions as it usually does in Arabic, so the sentence will be "Join the largest commercial showroom in Africa"

Wow!
